Ian Curtis-Nye
Ian is our Chair of Trustees and has volunteered as a trustee since joining the organisation in January 2021. Ian is also the chair of our HR and Infrastructure sub-committee and the trustee responsible for Safeguarding.
Outside of Citizens Advice Reading, Ian is a solicitor and partner at Lyons Davidson solicitors. He is also a consumer member for the Civil Procedure Rules Committee, a group who govern the rules around the civil courts. He has also previously been involved in committee work, including sitting on the board of a legal membership body.
Alongside volunteering, Ian enjoys travelling, reading and is a keen fisherman.
Faye Hamilton-Martin
Faye is a Digital Consultant with over 20 years experience in digital, technology and change management. She has a First Class degree in Social Science from Birkbeck University and has worked across many organisations in the Private and Not for Profit sector. She specialises in Board-sponsored IT change programmes.
Faye became a Trustee in November 2022 and Vice Chair in February 2024. She chairs the Funding, Partnerships and Communications sub-committee.
Andrew Edger
Andrew has been a Trustee and Treasurer of Citizens Advice Reading since October 2020.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has over 25 years of experience working as a Finance Director of medium and large commercial organizations both in the UK and abroad.
Andrew has now been living in Reading with his family for almost 9 years, and is very glad to be supporting Citizens Advice Reading, which continues after 85 years to offer high quality advice to all those in need of such services within our town and surrounding areas.
Jacqui Benton
Jacqui brings over 25 years of professional experience, predominantly from the Oil & Gas industry, Technology and Media & Entertainment to Citizens Advice. Having worked with global corporations s in various capacities - from Senior Accountant, Regional Budgeting and Control Manager to Business Process Expert and Change Manager - Jacqui has gained considerable expertise in data management, system integration, project and change management.
Starting out as a volunteer in August 2022 at Citizens Advice Reading, Jacqui swiftly transitioned into a Trustee board member role due to the inherent leadership qualities and analytical capabilities. With a sound understanding of process improvement, key performance indicators and evaluation methodologies, Jacqui offers an invaluable perspective to strategic decision-making processes.
Kemi Odubanjo
Kemi is a trained HR professional, and an executive coach. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has over 24 years of working as a HR professional in the public and third sectors.
She became a trustee in February 2024 and is part of the HR and Infrastructure sub committee.
Ilham Dahmani Fikry
Ilham became a trustee in November 2024 and is part of the Funding, Partnerships, and Communications sub-committee. With a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a career in cybersecurity, she brings a strong technical background to the board.
Having moved to Reading in 2021 for work, she has come to love the town and now calls it home. Alongside volunteering, she enjoys travelling, reading, and exploring art in her spare time.
Dr Linda Baines
Linda Baines is an independent scholar, and a visiting academic at Southampton Business School (SBS), University of Southampton, where she completed her PhD. In a previous life, Linda worked as a senior manager in the public sector, most recently in the research councils (which fund postgraduate research in the UK).
Linda has extensive experience of commercial management, strategic and business development and planning, setting up spinout companies and research collaborations, preparing and negotiating contracts, procurement, and governance.
She has substantive experience as a Chair and trustee of third sector organisations.
Marcia Macdonald-Spiers
Marcia joined the Trustee Board in May 2025.
Marcia is a trained HR professional with over 35 years experience in a variety of sectors including the Charity sector. Her HR experience covers all areas of HR including governance, systems, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, services, reward and payroll.
She is a member of the Institute of Personnel and Development and a qualified Life Coach who has recently retired from full-time work and volunteers some of her time to local groups in her locality.
Marcia also enjoys theatre, gardening, travelling and walking in the countryside.
Niki Barton
Niki joined Citizens Advice Reading as a Trustee in May 2025.
For Niki, Reading is home. She's lived here while working and commuting to various jobs, she gave birth to her children here and they go to school locally, and whether it's friends, hobbies, sport or social life, Reading is at the centre.
Her background is in fundraising, communications and engagement across charity and local government, having worked at Shelter, Oxfam, Bowel Cancer UK and Reading Borough Council. In working as a Trustee for CAR she hopes to use that experience to support the people and places she loves.
